OPTION 1: HALONG BAY (-/L/-)
An early morning start to drive to HaLong Bay,
one of Vietnam's most impressive sights. Upon
arrival, we take a 5-hour boat trip to visit Ha
Long Bay, listed as a World Heritage Area of outstanding
natural beauty. This picturesque "Dragon descending
to the sea" Bay has 1,969 limestone islets rising
from the sea, many of them containing beautiful
grottoes. During the boat trip, we make stops
for swimming and visiting one of the many grottoes
as well as enjoying a seafood lunch prepared and

OPTION 2: PERFUME
PAGODA (-/L/-)
Perfume Pagoda is not just one pagoda but many
shrines and sanctuaries built into a limestone
hillside. After an interesting drive through the
rich farming land of the Red River Delta to Perfume
Pagoda, we enjoy a boat excursion through a peaceful
rural landscape of flooded rice fields and walk
up into Huong Son Mountain for an exploration
of the pagoda complex. The tour ends after arrival
in Ha Noi.

OPTION 3: HOALU
- TAMCOC (-/L/-)
The morning we head out of town to Hoa Lu, the
sight of Vietnam's capital during 10th and 11th
century. After visiting two remaining sanctuaries
of the Dinh and Le dynasties, we embark a cruise
on a river through the quiet and peaceful landscape
of rice fields surrounded by limestone formations
to the grottoes of Tam Coc. The tour ends after
arrival in Ha Noi.

OPTION 4: HANOI

Ha Noi is a unique city with tree -lined boulevards,
French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and
magnificent temples. A full day city tour includes
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday
and the whole months of October-November), the
One Pillar Pagoda, the interesting Museum of Ethnology
(closed on Monday), the Temple of Literature well
known as Vietnam's first university, the peaceful
West Lake, the green lakes of Hoan Kiem with its
sacred temple and the old quarters streets.

This trip to the northwest highland of Mai Chau
offers a balance of cultural and physical activities
set amongst some northern Vietnam's stunning natural
landscape. We spend a journey in a White Thai
village where we hove opportunities to observe
the local lifestyle of these minority people
in a pretty valley with a patchwork of rice paddies,
farms and houses-on-stilts.
